Carvery lovers will have been in turmoil over the last few years with the slow demise of this once British Sunday staple. The carvery had more than fallen out of favour possibly part to its popularity and outlets producing hugely substandard food, dry meat, grey soggy veg, the list goes on.
What a shame for a fantastic way to enjoy a proper roast dinner with friends and family. Thankfully it’s making a comeback and bigger and better than before. There’s even talk of a new hit and trendy chain called “Carve” set to open starting in London.
But back to the Lake District and as a result guest and visitor feedback, the Sunday carvery is now firmly back on at the Newby Bridge Hotel overlooking Lake Windermere. Who could resist though, the choice of local, Cumbrian meats all laid out, glistening an juicy, an array of freshly prepared seasonal vegetables, condiment to match each meat and real gravy. Whether you’re up for the weekend, staying just for the night or simply visiting for the day, the light bright and airy restaurant and Huntsman’s Bar at the hotel offers a lovely setting and more importantly an extremely well stocked carvery. Delicious local fish and vegetarian dishes are also available still being able to take advantage of the accompaniment selection. Kids love this way of eating, going up and choosing and the child’s portion rates start from just £5.95 for one course, adults from £10.95.
A one minute walk takes diners to Lake Windermere for post dinner stroll or perhaps jump on one of the ferries and take a trip down the lake.
